How to Choose Encapsulation Materials for Solar Panels?

Encapsulation Materials Options:
We recommend a coating for the solar panel based on your durability, cost, and design constraints. The four options are:

ETFE: Economical, waterproof and UV resistant. Solar cells are attached to the substrate and then laminated under heat and pressure by EVA and ETFE.
　　　　With high-quality materials, our ETFE solar panels have an expected life of 8+ years outside.

PV Glass: Great UV resistance and high light transmittance. For the same dimensions, the glass panel is also the heaviest.

PV Glass with Frame: When used in conjunction with the frame, high light transmittance and durability, the glass solar panel achieves the longest possible service life.

PET: Panels featuring this type of coating are low-cost but have a short lifetime. They are UV resistance is relatively weak and are suitable for budget-friendly products.

What is the difference between PET, ETFE and glass laminated panels?
Both types of panels are durable and designed for outdoor applications. The difference is how the solar cells are protected or encapsulated.

ETFE Laminate - The solar cells are placed on a piece of PCB/FR4 or TPT ( ETFE+PCB or ETFE +TPT), covered by a sheet of EVA and then EVA. That stack of materials is then laminated under pressure and heat, bonding the materials together. We use a laser cutter or punch to cut out the completed panel.
